Film Criteria

Current Film Criteria are as follow:

Age brackets
- 18-25 or College-level and up
Film should be recent (less than 1 year old *After September 2020*)
- Participants can still make their own film for the festival
Story is focused on the APA community, culture, social issues, APA stories
At least one person is of APA descent from directors, screenwriter, producer

Criteria will be updated, please stay tuned.

Animation 1-10 minutes
- Throughout the years, animation has continued to grow and blossom. Stop-motion, claymation, 2D to 3D we want to see it all! Submit your animated story.
Comedy 10 minutes and under
- Make us laugh or make us cringe, this is your chance to tell your comedy.
Documentary 40 minutes and under
- Reveal the truths behind stories untold. Tell us a true story through the lens of your camera in all forms and styles. Submit your documentary piece today.
Drama 1-20 minutes
- From the complex characters and moral conflicts, bring on the drama!
Experimental 1-10 minutes
- Can’t really find a word to define your piece? Does it fall out of the traditional definitions of filmmaking? We’ve got you covered. Submit your experimental film! All forms, all styles, we’ll take it.
Horror/Sci-Fi/Fantasy 1-10 minutes
- Bring on the scares, bring on the bizarre, bring on the “out of this world.
Middle School Submissions 1-10 minutes
- Are you in 6th, 7th, or 8th grade? Then this is the category for you. Submit your story in any genre you wish.
High School Submissions 1-10 minutes
- Are you in 9th, 10th, 11th, or 12th grade? Then this is the category for you. Submit your story in any genre you wish.
One Minute Movie 1 minute, 1 second
- As the saying goes, less is more. Submit your one-minute story. All forms and concepts are accepted in this category. Make every second count.
